A career as a Graphic Designer requires talent as well as education in graphic arts or design. You must have the ability to plan, analyze, and create visual images to display an intended message. Designers must be able to work under the stress of time constraints, strict deadlines, financial budgets, changing expectations, criticism, rejection, and long hours. Excellent communication skills, patience, perseverance, and a great deal of self-confidence are attributes required to be a successful graphic designer.
The job of a graphic designer is to take an idea and make it come to being with the use of color, print, illustration, photography, and various layout techniques. Design can be found in magazines, newspaper ads, marketing brochures, logos for products and businesses, packaging, signage, web pages, and interactive media. Wherever you see visual displays, graphic designers were more than likely involved in the project.
